Harmful Foods

Talk show THE DOCTORS of February 27 will be dedicated to the harmful foods. It's a very touching topic, for me, since I'm allergic on every kind of additives and other toxic substances. I received a summary of this show and permission to pubblic it. Here, that conmtent. I wan't believe that it's true.
Burgers* – Would you eat a burger made out of “pink slime”—the name given to the mechanically separated meat that’s treated with ammonia hydroxide to kill bacteria like E-coli?  McDonald’s, Taco Bell and Burger King, once purveyors of pink slime, say they have discontinued their use of this meat, made from discarded beef (i.e. everything else from the cow that had been deemed inedible), but who still does? Schools serve it up daily in kids’ lunches.
·         Chicken –To disinfect and cool chicken post slaughter, chickens are often soaked in a chlorine bath with a water-to-chlorine ratio up to 50 times more potent than the local swimming pool.  Then, to help hide the chlorine taste, the chickens are “plumped” with salt water, making the chickens larger in both weight and price.  Plus, via a scientific experiment, THE DOCTORS determined that chlorine baths may not even rid chicken of the bacteria the chlorine bath is supposed to prevent.
·         Ice Cream – One billion gallons of ice cream are consumed by Americans every year. The most popular flavor?  Vanilla.  Real vanilla beans are expensive, so to save money, many ice cream makers use a synthetic flavoring called piperonal which is also an ingredient in lice killer.
·         Bread – Many breads are made with potassium bromate, which has been banned in Canada and the UK and has been named a carcinogen by the EPA, but has been approved by the FDA.  Plus, azodicarbonamide, found in many manufactured donuts and hamburger buns - as well as plastics, rubber and foam - has been found to  aggravate asthma symptoms and contribute respiratory problems in humans.

So, what does THE DOCTORS recommend to avoid these harmful foods? 
  • Read the fine print on labels! 
o    Look for fewer ingredients with words you can pronounce
o    Avoid “artificial flavors” as much as possible
o    Avoid “artificial dyes”, especially Red 40, Blue 1, Yellow 5 & 6
·         Limit processed foods.
·         While it’s not economical for everyone to buy organic all the time, it’s worth spending a few extra dollars on organic poultry and beef. 
o    To save money, purchase the whole chicken.  Boneless, skinless chicken breasts are the most expensive by the pound.
o    Check the “sell by” dates, and plan to shop the day before when your butcher is likely to mark down the poultry and meat.
o    Consider buying direct from a farmer’s market
·         Check the sodium levels on fresh and frozen chicken packaging.
o    A truly natural chicken breast has 50 to 75 mg. of sodium. If there’s more than that, the bird has been “plumped”.
·         Cook for your family.
o    If you want to know what’s in your food, make it yourself.
o    It’s a great way to bond with your children and teach them about health.

Winter-Inspired Depression

Depression is a really bad beast. Something that destroys personality. Seasonal or not, it's always terrible.

But, as in any other popular human problem, there are vendors grasping every possibility to sell.

Those send me infinite mails to pubblish here and in my other blogs. This way I knew so much about winter-inspired depression. Oh no, don't worry, I will not fill this post with the quotations. I wanted only to think a little about it.

What do you know about winter-inspired depression? You would never think about it if the vendors did not persist with the descriptions how bad you feel in winter and what medicines you have to assume, I think. Some of them have other ideas -they advise to color your desk or to change your furniture. Еo change your husband or friend, maybe. Something like this.

I feel sad in winter, too. I need much sun, light. But I noticed that complexes of vitamins help me. And some time passed under the rays of the sun, too. So, I try to take advantage of every sunny moment. I go out and open my face, my hair, skin of the hands and arms. And try to inspire sunshine, as well.

How to Forget Chronic Pains

Chronic pains are those that continue for more than 6 months. Many persons know this phenomen from personal experiences. Interesting is that it's so important that damages economies of entire countries which citizens do not work and use the resources of the country to cure chronic pains. Imagine that the negative profit caused to the finances by chronic pains is bigger than it's of oncological, cardiovascular and immunity deseases together.

This is the reason why the governments are interested in researches that could eliminate this problem.

Canadian researchers discovered the "root" of the chronic pains. It's the memory. Every pain that lasts for more than some minutes remains in the memory of the body thanks to a substance that remains in the nerves of the place where the pain was. This substance is proteinkinasa PKMzeta (hope, I spell the word right).

The researchers discovered that it's possible to block this substance with drugs. That allows to "cancell" the memory of the pain.

Maybe we will forget about the chronic pains in the next future...

Why We Do Not Loss our Weight? -Leptin

Did you know it about weight loss? We can't eat so as we did when we were young because of slow metabolism. We have slow metabolism because it's normal for our age, because we sit all the days fore the computer and are not active as years ago. And this is the reason that we have the low level of the LEPTIN, hormone responsible for the sense of satiety.

Second. Low Calories diets are responsible for much more low level of Leptine than it is in our body normally.

Leptin is produced by our blood and that is why we can't assume it with food.
As the conseguence, products that contain Leptine do not exist. Period.

There are foods that can accelerate our metabolism. And this will maintain our body young, too.
Red and blue fruits
Vegetables: bulbs, cabbages, cabbage, rocket.
Ginger, parsley, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, basil
Fish, yoghurt, green tea  

Want we try this "diet"?
